king size quilt on the whole11/06/2005 Finding a king size quilt that actually fits a large bed can be a difficult task. I recently discovered how challenging this seemingly simple buying job really is after making several purchases that yielded disappointing results. It seems that a king size quilt is not always as big as it should be. What you are about to read is the culmination of information from many different places and resources. I hope you enjoy it. My first purchase was at a discount store that commonly carries slightly irregular sizes. I thought that a little misplaced stitch here and there was no big deal. After all, the king size quilt in this store was a fraction of the price of the ones available in your traditional stores under certain circumstances. I wound up returning the king size quilt to the discount store because it was not really the right size. The edges of the quilting lay just above the mattress spring leaving the unattractive underbelly of our large sized bed showing. I was disappointed but returning an item like this is common even at a discount store put another way. My next stop was a retail giant store that boasts one stop shopping. You can usually find quality items at this kind of store at relatively cheap prices. I found an attractive king size quilt at this one stop shopping store only to run into the same exact problem when I arrived home in fact. This time the edges of the quilting fabric lay just below the mattress. The unattractive underbelly of our large bed still stuck out quite a bit leaving its awkward presence known. I was getting closer but I still wasn’t happy with the look. There were no matching bed skirt and I really didn’t want to dress up the room too much at last. All I wanted was a traditional look for the bedroom décor. I decided to make another return and another trip to a different type of store. This time, I went to a reputable mall store that boasts the best quality in every product it sells. This had to work. There must be a king size quilt that actually fits a large bed at a store like this for example. There wasn’t. I knew once I opened the package that the king size quilt would barely reach the middle of the box spring. I just accepted this as the way the king size quilt is made in this day and age. Maybe the manufacturers simply assume that everyone uses bed skirts in closing. To solve this irritating dilemma, I chose to buy a bed skirt to hide the box spring’s metal underside. If I would have done this in the first place, I would have saved a lot of money on my king size quilt as a result. So that's the information I have on that subject. I hope it was helpful and you were able to get something out of it. |
